1947 two cousins, Enea Buzzi and Achille Savinelli, took the advice of
one of their uncles and opened a pipe manufacturing facility in the
small Italian town of Brebbia. The Savinelli family had been in business
as retail tobacconists in Italy since the late 1800's and Achille felt
it was time for them to make their own pipes. It was agreed between the
two that the pipes made by the new company would be stamped with the
Savinelli name and sold through the Savinelli family shops. However, as
often happens in partnerships and apparently more often in Italy than
other places, by 1956 the partnership had dissolved and the cousins went
their separate ways, Savinelli opening his own workshop and Buzzi
retaining the facility in Brebbia. Thus was born the Brebbia pipe.
