FRATELLO CIGARS Event Tomorrow!

Remember, tomorrow (that’s Thursday, October 23rd for you chronologically-challenged types like myself) we’re hosting an event with Omar de Frias ofFratello Cigars from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. We’ll have plenty of fantastic Fratello product on hand, including the new Boxer (pictured above), a box-pressed torpedo that’ll knock your socks off! Come on down and meet the man responsible for what Stogie Review called “One of the most well balanced cigars” of 2013.FUN FACT: Before turning to cigars, Omar de Frias was a professional basketball player in the Dominican Republic…and was also formerly the Science Mission Directorate Integration Evaluation Manager at NASA. (Yes, that NASA.)

SEE YOU HERE!

NEW THIS WEEK:

Rocky Patel Super Ligero!

New from the fine folks at Rocky Patel, the Super Ligero series features a potent blend of tobaccos, including a special hybrid seed called St. Augustine habano, which is said to have taken “years to develop.”  The St. Augustine wrapper is combined with a habano binder and a filler of Nicaraguan and Costa Rican triple ligero – all of which add up to a real powerhouse of flavor and intensity. We’ve currently got three sizes in stock: the 5″ x 50 robusto, the appropriately-named 6″ x 60 Sixty, and — a rarity for Rocky Patel — a 7 1/2″ x 38 lancero (and as we all know, a real connoisseur goes out of his or her way for a lancero.*)

Guaranteed to leap off the shelves, but we’ve still got plenty on hand. Stop down and try a Super Ligero…if you dare!

* Why? Because a lancero contains much less filler than a larger-gauge cigar. Typically, up to 60% of a cigar’s flavor is contained in its wrapper leaf. Less filler means one will taste the wrapper that much more. Get it? Got it? Good!

ALSO NEW:

Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial 2014: Double Toro!

A limited annual offering from Oliva (and yes, it’s oh-LEE-vah, not “Olivia” as inNewton-John) is the highly-regarded Maduro Especial, a variation on the popular (and powerful) Serie V which contains only Nicaraguan ligero tobaccos, primarily from the fertile Jalapa Valley region. The main difference with these hard-to-acquire annuals is the substitution of a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper for the usual Habano sun grown, which results in a bolder, spicier flavor profile with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. This year’s size is a 6″ x 60 double toro, their thickest take on this line to date. Extremely limited in quantity! Only 6,000 boxes were produced, and we have a couple of them…so come on by and grab a few while you can!

MORE NEW STUFF:

Viva Republica PROPAGANDA!

Jason Holly‘s Viva Republica is making waves with some great new releases (including the popular Guerrilla Warfare – see below), the newest of which is this: Propaganda, an extremely flavorful new line featuring a multinational blend of fillers (from Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and good old Pennsylvania, USA), an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and a wrapper of Brazilianmágico cubano (“a Cuban-seed varietal,” according to Halfwheel.com). The resultant smoke is complex and heady, with hints of sweetness underlying a pleasant leather/coffee bass note, a satisfying smoke that’s not terribly powerful in terms of nicotine strength.

We currently have two sizes on hand: Disinformation (a 4″ x 54 robusto) andFive and a Half Truth (a 5 1/2″ x 54 toro). Stop on over and get some Propaganda before it’s thoroughly disseminated…

SPEAKING OF VIVA REPUBLICA…

Guerrilla Warfare Continues!

Everybody seems to love the Guerrilla Warfare, that tasty little petit corona fromViva Republica…and if you’re a fan as well, you’ll love this news: The Warfare is now available in a 5 1/4″ x 43 full corona size! And we have them in stock, along with a replenished supply of their pint-sized compatriots. Now you can savor the cedar and spiciness for twice as long! Grab a few today and get back into active duty!
