ASW Smokin’ News – Feb. 3rd, 2016!

Speaking of Puros Indios…

Puros Indios Torpedo Special!

We’ve received ONE box of delicious Puros Indios Torpedoes…and we’regiving one away with every purchase of FOUR or more Puros Indios or Cuba Aliados cigars. (Yes, the Cigar of the Week is eligible! You must buy FIVE to qualify for the freebie.) Only 9 of these tasty cigars left, so get one while the getting is good!

NEW THIS WEEK:

Viva Republica Advanced Warfare Coronas!

Hot on the heels of Viva Republica‘s runaway hit Guerilla Warfare, Jason Hollyconcocted this new variation…and in a novel twist, he’s reversed the industry norm by retaining the wrapper leaf of the original blend, replacing the binder and fillers instead.

The wrapper is Ecuadorian Sumatra capa, same as the Guerilla; the dual binder is Connecticut broadleaf this time around; the filler’s Dominican and Nicaraguan are still present, but Brazilian has been swapped for potent Pennsylvania broadleaf.

The final result is a much stronger cigar lacking none of the flavor of the original release. Like its forerunner, Advanced Warfare is available in two sizes: Corona (5¼” x 43) and Petit (4″ x 41). We’ve received the Corona (the Petit is already on backorder), and they’re outstanding…so charge over to ASW and get a few of these fiery numbers before they’re gone!

Also New:

Nub Café Coronas!

It’s OK, admit it: You’ve been dying to try a Nub Café – that coffee-infused instant classic – but the original 60-gauge cigar is just too much of a jawbreaker. Well, you’re not alone; many people avoid big-ring-gauge cigars due to maxillary discomfort. But fear not! These same delicious blends are now available in a 5″ x 42 Corona! We’ve currently got Cappuccino and Macchiato on the shelf (withEspresso likely soon to follow), so now’s your chance to enjoy them with minimal effort. Stock up!

Not Exactly New, But Still Tasty:

Tatiana Robustos!

Ah, Tatiana… an infused line from Miami Cigar with decadent flavor combinations such as Chocolate, Honey, Fusion Frenzy, and Sweet Euphoria. While they’re best known in their cigarillo form (available in tins of 10), we just happened to receive a few boxes of Tatiana Robustos – measuring a perfect 5″ x 50 – in three varieties: Rum, Cherry, and Groovy Blue. You want infusion? We’ve got infusion! Get your mitts on a few of these and enjoy a panoply of exotic flavors!

This week’s Pipe Corner review is focused on a new (to me) Virginia/Perique Flake blended by the German company Dan Tobacco: Tordenskjold Pibetobak.

What that translates to is a brown and golden flake tobacco with a heavenly tin aroma that is rich with that plum-like or stewed-fruit aroma that VaPer smokers crave. Presented in a somewhat loose flake composition, I simply folded and stuffed a pair of flakes into my favorite Virginia pipe bowl and only loosened the pressed flakes slightly before loading.

Keeping the bowl lit was surprisingly effortless, and from the first light this delicious blend was treating me to a surprisingly full-flavored and robust smoking experience. I detected hints of white pepper and fresh-baked bread in this blend.

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you’d know that I rarely spew out those types of descriptions when discussing a flavor profile, but in this instance, I’ll beg the reader’s pardon: This may be one of, if not the best Virginia/Perique blends I’ve ever had the pleasure of smoking…at least for a blend fresh out of the tin with no significant age on it.

It’s available in 50g tins, and if you love quality tobaccos, I’d suggest grabbing some for your stash, especially the Perique. (If you stop in to our shop and are curious, bring a pipe with you and try a bowl from the sample tin! You won’t be disappointed.)

Five out of five pipes again this week for Dan Tobacco’s Tordenskjold Virginia Slices. Puff On!
