A mild/medium bodied maduro? Yes! The Carrillo Core Line doesn’t skimp on taste, but is mellow enough in temperament to permit one to enjoy it without fear of a heavy dose of nicotine. The maduro blend is particularly fine, with a wrapper sourced from the Connecticut River Valley (a 2008 crop), a binder of Ecuadorian Sumatra for additional spice, and a smooth blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. For the maduro series, master blender Ernesto Perez-Carrillo substituted a leaf of viso for the natural Core Line’s seco; the higher priming adds a touch more potency to the blend.
